3.) What’s your favorite munchie? Fruit—blueberries are my all-time favorite food.

Well, besides Shane McConkey, obviously…it would be Tina Fey.

5.) Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Hopefully backcountry skiing (touring) more; still skiing lots of pow, though.

6.) Favorite ice cream flavor? Anything with coffee and chocolate.

7.) If you had to spend a year somewhere with no snow, where would you be? Definitely the beach somewhere, maybe the WA or OR coast, or travel through southeast Asia.  I’ve never been there.

8.) What gets you out of bed every morning? Heh. Avie bombs…or coffee. Or both.

9.) Favorite Volkl Ski Graphic?  Probably the Gotamas because I always love the fat little Buddha.  It gives me good feelings.

10.) What’s the one misconception people have about you? That I’m Scandinavian by birth, because of my name.  Nope, only by ancestry!

12.) If you could have one super power, what would it be? Flying, but super fast almost like a hummingbird, so I could also be invisible.

I was Joan Jett once…

14.) How has your skiing career made you a better person? 14  It’s definitely given me more faith in humanity and helped me to really like people even more because of all of the super nice people I get to meet.

15.) One thing not many people know about you?
I suppose I can be a bit grumpy in the mornings before I’ve had coffee.  I don’t see it as grumpy, I just see it as not feeling like talking to anyone just yet, but the MSP guys tease me about it.

Probably Costa Rica for some waves to catch.  Or maybe back to the motherland, Turkey

7.) What gets you out of bed every morning? Knowing that there is good skiing out there that needs to be had. I need to be out there to get it.

8.) #1 skiing memory? Opening day at Brighton my first year in Utah was pretty epic. We had a sick powder day with a decent little base already so just cruising all day till it closed made my year for sure.

9.) What are you wearing right this minute? Lots of Under Armour haha, got Under Armour tall tee with headband, shorts, and socks.

10.) Pulp or no pulp? Gotta have the pulp thats what makes you healthy and strong, Like me.

 On my skateboard - not on a beach getting melanoma.

 A career implies a livelihood, so I'd say that my 'skiing lifestyle' has made me very frugal (which is good, I suppose).

4.) Who taught you how to ski? Jerry Frankoviak, an old family friend!

5.) What was the first concert you ever saw? How old were you? Mr. Big, when I was 13. I made it to the front row and was squashed into the wood barrier in the front. After about an hour or so, I became pale due to the intense heat and was pulled over the barrier, given some water and sent on my way.

My friend Zach Rote who has never been and would cherish every moment of it.

Now I am laughing at the cool guys who were too big at the time. My ski career has taught me to meet everyone with an open mind, and to not look down on people or judge people, because you never know, that grom could be showing you up in no time!

16.) How has your skiing career made you a better person? It has allowed me to grow, to live and to love. I’ve learned what true pain is, and what true joy is. It has taught me how to stay focused and to see the larger picture. Never forget what you are going after…it’s the only way you’ll ever reach your dreams.

Glen is one of the most recognizeable figures in skiing and extreme sports today. Born in Livermore, California, on September 9, 1964, he is best known for his groundbreaking segments in Greg Stump’s ski films Blizzard of Aahhh’s and License to Thrill, as well as for his trademark mohawk hairstyle. Plake was instrumental in the development of steep skiing in America during the 1980’s, and received an 2001 award from ESPN for being a “Pioneer of Extreme Skiing.”

As a youngster in California, Glen honed his skills by competing in both ski racing and mogul skiing. However, it was when he took those skills to the Big Mountain that his career took off. In addition to the Greg Stump films, Glen has also appeared in the 2006 documentary Steep and several films from Warren Miller Entertainment. He currently serving as host for the RSN cable network’s program Reel Thrills.

Glen and his wife Kimberly also run their “Down Home” tours, visiting dozens of America’s smaller ski areas every year. When not on a Down Home tour, Glen is usually skiing in his base of Tahoe, California, or his second home of Chamonix, France.

A well-rounded athlete, Glen is also an accomplished mountaineer, motocross rider, dirt track racecar driver, and waterskier.

My favorite peak would be Aspen Buttermilk. The mountain holds the X-Games course every year and always has an amazing park! I feel at home in their prestigious halfpipe and love to train in it!

3.) If you could have a drink with anyone, who would it be? If I was to have a drink with anyone I would choose to have it with Megan Fox!

4.) If you had to spend a year somewhere with no snow, where would you be? With or without snow I would be skiing! I would either spend a year skiing the sand dunes or water ramping at the Utah Olympic Park to perfect my ski tricks for snow!

5.) What gets you out of bed every morning?
Life! Everyday is something different and new. From traveling the world to ski, compete and do what I love or simply being hypnotized in psychology class! Life's and adventure and I'm living the dream!

My first ski grab! When I was 5 at a ski area called Berthoud Pass I did my first mute grab. After that point I knew what I wanted to do and what I wanted to become!

7.) Favorite Volkl Ski Graphic? I love the Ledge graphic. The urban lifestyle and highways are pretty cool and unique.

8.) If you could have one super power, what would it be?
If I was to have one super power I would choose to be a shapeshifter. I could be anyone or anything, anywhere!

9.) What was your favorite Halloween costume? Darth Maul or Darth Vader.

10.) How has your skiing career made you a better person? I have gained so much out of my skiing career. I have been able to meet so many extraordinary people and have been able to travel to so many wonderful places!

11.) One thing not many people know about you? Skier by day and Star Wars nerd by night! I am a huge fan of Star Wars and can recite each episode of the saga by heart. I can answer any trivia question about the movies or books and I own almost every Star Wars Lego set! That’s one thing that not many people know about me!
